Harlow after a week in care - and several baths!

About: Harlow is a curious case and one I hope never to see repeat. She was advertised on Gumtree. In efforts to secure her a place in rescue, we managed to negotiate with the 'seller' in Harlow's best interest and have her surrender. We did this as Harlow was advertised as a cute little puppy, undesexed and 'good for breeding' - we didn't want her to fall into the wrong hands and used for irresponsible breeding.

As we drove around 400km, we pulled up to a rural property. The owner met us at the gate. We were not allowed on the property and she suddenly wanted cash for Harlow. We took one look at this neglected little dog and agreed. It was for the benefit of the sad, stanky little thing. Harlow was then handed over the gate and that was it. In hindsight, I have no doubt that we just saved Harlow from a puppy farm.

We drove 200km home with 3 windows down and had to bath Harlow before we got home as she was covered in fleas and grot - to the point we had to cut her jacket off her body it was attached to her hair. Harlow settled in very quickly to her safe new home. She was desexed (after going through her first heat within days of arriving) and microchipped as well as vaccinated and treated throughly for fleas and worms.

Harlow was listed for adoption and soon found her very own mum to love her forever and who would never neglect her. Harlow is now safe and sound, living as a Chinese Crested should - SPOILT.
